I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU)
It is also known as Punjab Technical University (PTU). It was established in 1997 to technical, Pharma, management education in the state of Punjab. The campus is located at Jalandhar.
The majority of the engineering institutes in Punjab are affiliated to PTU. Admission to its own campus and the affiliated colleges are done by the centralised counselling process conducted by PTU.
Panjab University (PU)
Chandigarh: This is one of the oldest universities in India. It was started in 1882 Lahore (Pakistan). After the Independence of India, it was again started in 1947 as Panjab University. During that time administrative department is located at Solan, Himachal Pradesh. Later in 1956 it is relocated at Chandigarh. Admissions in various courses are strictly done by the counselling process conducted by Panjab University. Engineering, MBA, Law, Pharmacy are the major courses offered by the University.

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL)
The RGNUL was established in 2006 to promote Legal Education in the state of Punjab. It is a national University for Law education. The campus is located at Patiala. It offers courses like BALLB, LLM, Ph.D in Law and Social Science. Admissions are done on the basis of Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
