UIN celebrated National Nutrition Week

UIN, 14 September 2017 –The UNIVERSAL INSTITUTE OF NURSING in collaboration with the hospital authority (CHC Lalru ), today celebrate National Nutrition Week(NNW) 2017 to promote public awareness regarding Nutritional Diet . The National Nutrition Week is celebrated in the country from 1st to 7th September. The theme of the National Nutrition Week for 2017 is "Optimal Infant & Young Child Feeding Practices: Better Child Health". The basic objective of this annual event is to intensify awareness generation on the importance of nutrition for health which has an impact on development, productivity, economic growth and ultimately National development.

 

Nutrition is an issue of survival, health and development for current and succeeding generations. Child born underweight have impaired immune function and increased risk of diseases such as diabetes and heart diseases in their later life. Malnourished children tend to have lower IQ and impaired cognitive ability, thus affecting their school performance and then productivity in their later life. It has to be realized that the nutritional health and all age groups represent say National Economic Asset.


Addressing the event, Ms. Shivalika Thakur (Clinical Instructor), Miss Deepika Thakur (Clinical instructor ),organised event on NNW at CHC Lalru , where students did the various activities i.e. Poetry , Speech , Health Education .The main focus is on nutrition week is not only provide the best nutrition for babies , but also strengthen the immunity of vulnerable Groups , promote growth & development , and benefits for babies and mother growth and development of society as it is both convenient and environmentally friendly . On this event, The SMO of the CHC Lalru, Dr Prince Sodhi , appreciate our students for their best performance on this event & gave Refreshment to all nursing Students of UIN. At the last we will continue to promote public support and encourage more sectors to cultivate a welcoming environment for nutritional knowledge ."
