UGI Celebrated Lohri with full zeal and enthusiasm

Lohri was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm in the premises ofUniversal Group Of Institutions today i.e 13/1/2017. The mood on the campus was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. The program started with "Lohri Poojan". The Chairman, the staff and the students worshiped ‘Dhooni’ Sweets and groundnuts were also distributed among the students.

 

The students presented a cultural bonanza which included Punjabi ‘Boliyaan’, Punjabi folk songs, Lohri songs and poems in the campus.There were fun games for faculty & Staff too Dr.Gurpreet Singh, the Chairman of the college greeted the students and suggested them to value their cultural heritage. He said that it is only with these festivals that we are able to maintain our ancestral values and traditions and Lohri is the harvest festival of Punjab famously known as the bread basket state of India Thus people residing in North India attach a lot of significance to Lohri. The festival marks both celebration and sharing and is being celebrated now as “Dhiyaan Di Lohri” to educate the people about the equal rights of the girl child in the society
