Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL), which came into being on 16/04/2012 is entrusted with the construction of Transmission Works in the State of Punjab. During the year 2012-2013, 7 nos. 66KV Grid Substations. Namely Ikolaha, Passiana, Gaunsgarh, Bassi Pathana, Udhoke, Kakrala and Dhaanaula have been upgraded to 220KV by the PSTCL. In addition, 132KV substations. Talwandi Bhai has been upgraded to 220KV.This electrical substation is a subsidiary station of an electricity generation, transmission and distribution system where voltage is transformed from high to low or the reverse using transformers. Electric power may flow through several substations between generating plant and consumer, and may be changed in voltage in several steps. This substation that has a step-up transformer increases the voltage while decreasing the current, while a step-down transformer decreases the voltage while increasing the current for domestic and commercial distribution. The students learn about transmission of electricity from power substation.
