Hon'ble Chairman (Dr.) Gurpreet Singh initially opened the Symposium with his words of wisdom by sharing his "Zero Tolerance Policy towards Tobacco Consuming Students." He conveyed his message by saying that today "youth of the nation" (students) must be rescued from tobacco consuming habits at priority basis otherwise Young India would not be far away from heinous aliments like brain drain,  cancer, heart disease, stroke and lung disease, etc.

During this Annual Symposium, The Chief Guest (Dr.) Ajay Rana (Eye Specialist, CHC Lalru) also added that today's youth as well as old age people have been suffering from the incurable diseases due to tobacco inhalation habit. He mentioned WHO statistics which states that tobacco consumption kills more than 7 million people around the world each year, and these numbers have been raising everyday due to less number of establishments of anti-tobacco companions.  He further focused on tobacco preventing habits and guided towards daily healthy exercises. In addition, the major concern of the World No Tobacco Day (2018) was "Tobacco and heart disease." Tobacco consuming causes major risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD), including coronary heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease (a narrowing of arteries). CVD kills more people than any other cause of death worldwide. Tobacco consumption and second-hand smoke exposure contribute to about 12% of deaths from heart disease whereas its’ use is the second leading cause of CVD, after high blood pressure.

On the other side, Dr. Ajay Rana also taught some preventing measures to the students. He firstly suggested about creating smoke-free public places, workplaces, and public transportation, secondly, help those people who choose to quit tobacco, such as toll-free quit lines, and Third one is, to increase taxes on tobacco products to make them less affordable etc. Finally, Hon'ble Chairman (Dr.) Gurpreet Singh summed the Symposium by saying "O My World! No Tobacco Today, Can Change Your Everyday." He tanked all to make this Symposium successful and useful for the youth of the nation.
