UGI Celebrated Basant Panchmi with great Zeal and Enthusiasm


Basant Panchami is an occasion which marks the advent of the spring season and is also celebrated to worship Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge and wisdom. This day was celebrated in Universal College of Education with great fervour and enthusiasm on 28 th and 29 th Jan, 2020. On this auspicious occasion, all the students and teachers were dressed in yellow coloured attires .Basant Panchami was celebrated in two Phases. On 28 th Jan, An inter college competition of Kite Making was held in which all the colleges of Universal Group of Institutes were participated and More than 60 students participated in this competition.UIN, UPC and UIET got the First, Second and third prizes respectively. On 29 th Jan, the cultural programme and Kite Flying was organised. The celebrations commenced with the Saraswati Vandana, invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati for seeking knowledge and a prosperous life.


Dr.Gurpreet Singh, Chairman UGI highlighted the importance of Basant Panchami to the Students. Beautiful songs were sung by Students. Students gave scintillating performance of traditional dances and bhangra.All faculty and students participated in Kite flying and enjoyed a lot. At the end, snacks and yellow sweets were offered to all .Director Academics, Dr.Virender Kaur threw light on the importance of Basant Panchami. Dr.Kompal Wadhawan, Principal Universal College of Education gave a vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts of all faculty members and gave blessings to the students.
