World Heart Day was celebrated in UGI by Applied Science Department of UIET,

Objective of event: To spread awareness about heart disease and stroke prevention.

The Applied Science department   celebrated World heart day in universal group of colleges, Ballopur on 29th Sep, 2014 in college campus.   Dr.  Gurpreet Singh, Chairman of UGI, Dr. Rachit Garg, Director of UIET, and Mr. Vikas Sharma, HOD, Applied Sciences was present there.  Dr. Rachit Garg, Director of UIET said that the motive of this day to celebrate was to spread awareness about heart disease and stroke prevention. Students of all branches of engineering and management participated in this event. Poster making and slogan writing competitions were held on this event. More than 25 students participated in it.  Mr. Vikas Sharma, HOD, Applied Sciences also shared his views about world heart day with students. He said that overeating, lack of exercise; unhealthy diets and high blood pressure are the reasons that trigger heart diseases. So we should quit smoking, unhealthy habits and try to do our work in proper order. Mrs.Shipra Kapoor HOD, Electrical department and Mrs. Puja Vij, HOD, Management Department, Mr. Vikas, o HOD, Applied Sciences was judges of the event. Aman, Harish and Ram Bhadhur from engineering department were the winners of poster making on this event. At the last, Mr. Vikas Sharma, HOD, Applied Sciences thanked all present.

Outcome: Students learned about the unhealthy diets in daily life and causes of heart ailments and its preventive measures.
